Indulge in an exquisite dining experience at Indian Accent, renowned for its innovative take on Indian cuisine and voted the top restaurant in India.

Optional: For those seeking a cultural adventure, in the afternoon you can join a Bollywood dance class to groove to the beats of India, or you can enjoy some free time to explore or rest.

    Breakfast, lunch included

This town is where colorful traditions truly come to life, and it doesn't get much more authentic than this! After a long day of celebrations, we will return to our hotel to clean up, have dinner, and get some rest in Goverdhan.

Lastly, unleash your creativity in art demonstrations (block printing and jewelry) and indulge in some shopping before enjoying the evening at your own pace.

    Breakfast, lunch included

  • After breakfast, delve into the opulence of Amer Fort and its intricate stepwells before embarking on a scenic drive to Agra. Stop at Abhaneri on the way.

    Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included

  • Wake up early to marvel at the iconic Taj Mahal at sunrise, and explore the majestic Agra Fort during a guided tour. Next, we'll engage in art demonstrations (marble and rugs) to add a personal touch to your journey.

We'll then stop to visit a local school and donate school supplies to children before we participate in a memorable pre-Holi ceremony (a storytelling session about the significance of Holi followed by a fire burning ceremony) and dinner at a local home in the evening.

    Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included

  • Join in the exuberant celebrations of Holi at a local home with our new friends who will soon become family, immersing yourself in the vibrant colors and festive spirit.

Conclude the day with a serene sunset tour of Agra, followed by an optional evening food tour for culinary enthusiasts.

Why Travel to India With Me:

India is a diverse and culturally rich country, known for its vibrant traditions and ancient history.

You get to just show up.

That’s the whole point of doing this, right? You buy your flight and pack your own bags (don’t worry, I’ll give you a list!), but I handle almost everything else! My goal is to make travel as easy and seamless as possible so you can just enjoy your trip!

I’ll prepare you for travel.

That means preparing you every step of the way and providing information on everything from purchasing flights, Covid requirements, visas, currency, weather and safety, to the more exciting things like what to wear and fun things to do in your free time.

You get built-in travel buddies.

No more waiting on other people for travel plans that never come to fruition. The dates are set, the itinerary is made, and I am ready to show you the best of the best in Greece!

You’ll travel in a small group.

I prefer traveling with a small group (think 10-15 people max) who have time to really bond and get to know each other instead of getting lost in the crowd. I promise you’ll leave this trip with new friends you’ll have for life, including me!

You’ll make a positive impact through travel.

I believe in transformative and sustainable travel and that travel truly changes you for the better. By immersing yourself in a culture, you’re likely going to leave a better person than when you arrived. You’ll meet locals, have authentic experiences, and give back to those in need so your tourism has a positive impact on this beautiful country.

You’ll come home with vacation photos you actually like.

Say goodbye to the days of crappy vacation pictures! I LOVE making people feel confident through photos, and you're guaranteed to go home with Insta-worthy photos of yourself that you’ll actually love because I am documenting your trip every step of the way. Check out some sample photos of past trip participants

“Meeting Laura has legitimately changed my life for the better. I went on her Morocco trip & it felt like a dream. Having everything pre-planned & details figured out made for a stress free experience that gave me the opportunity to really enjoy & immerse myself in every moment. I not only learned so much about a misunderstood culture, but I learned so much about myself. I daydream about the trip every day & find myself looking for excuses to talk to anyone about it. I cannot wait for my next Laura Ericson trip!”

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need a different payment arrangement. I look forward to sharing this adventure with you!

FAQs

  • You bet! I realize this is a large investment, so I try to make my trips as affordable as possible by offering payment plans.

There is an up front deposit of $500 at the time of booking, and then monthly payments of $700 beginning September 1 through January 1.

You are responsible for making payments on time, or you will forfeit your spot without refund. All payments are due 2 months prior to departure.

  • This entirely depends on your spending habits, but you’ll want to budget additional spending money for a few lunches and dinners that aren’t included, as well as alcoholic beverages.

I would budget $30 a day for spending money, plus extra money for shopping if that interests you.

You’ll also want to set aside money for tips for our guide and driver.

  • Yes, you will need a passport valid beyond September 17, 2025. If it will expire before then, you'll need to renew it ASAP.

If you do not have a passport, I recommend you start the process right away, as it can take several months to receive it. If you need assistance with this, feel free to reach out!

    VISAS

You will need to purchase an E-Tourist visa to visit India, which can be purchased online for $25. It takes a couple of days to receive it electronically after applying. More information will provided to you in the months leading up to the trip.

  • Yes, travel insurance is required for all of my trips starting in 2025, with a minimum of post-departure/travel medical coverage (typically about $35). There are options to upgrade to trip cancellation coverage + cancel for any reason coverage as well.

I always recommend getting travel insurance for large investments such as a trip like this. It's well worth the peace of mind knowing you will have travel and health coverage should something go wrong before or during your trip (and I have had several people have to use it—they were SO glad they had it).

I always tell people to ask themselves, “am I willing to lose thousands of dollars should I not be able to go on this trip?” If the answer is no, consider getting trip cancellation coverage.

If you want to learn more about travel insurance and are looking for a recommendation, you can learn more about my travel insurance partner, Wanderwell, here.

  • I sure hope that’s not the case, but I also realize that life can be unpredictable, and things happen.

    All trip payments are non-refundable.

Filling trip spots is incredibly time-consuming. I am a small boutique travel company, and I unfortunately do not have the ability to refund people if their plans change. Your deposits go directly to my local partners, and they are non-refundable to me as well.

Travel insurance is required for this trip (a minimum of post-departure/travel medical). Trip cancellation coverage is available for purchase and will potentially cover most of your trip costs should you need to cancel for a covered reason.

  • This trip has an average level of activity level, with lots of walking around cities. We will be driving from city to city, so there will be several days where we will be in the van for multiple hours.

See the section on Holi below for more specifics on the activity level for Holi.

  • One word: EPIC.

But I'll be honest, this trip isn't going to be for everyone. This is for the adventurous, free-spirited, open-minded people who want to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience that most people never get, even if they do travel to India.

Holi can be polarizing and intense at times. It's all in good fun, but prepare for people to throw colors on you, and sometimes without your permission--it's all part of the experience, and the more positive and open-minded your perspective is about it, the more fun you'll have!

We will be preparing you in advance for how to dress for Holi and give some tips for not staining your hair and skin after the celebrations.

If you still want to come on the trip but do not want to participate in Holi, it is completely optional.

  • Most days have some free time built in so you have time to wander, shop, and explore the cities we are in.

In addition, all planned activities are optional, so you are free to opt out at any time if you choose.

All that being said, this trip is designed to show you the best of the best of India and all activities have been personally vetted by me to ensure you’re only seeing things worth seeing. If something isn’t generally liked by the entire group, I don’t include it in the itinerary and leave it for free time.

  • I typically recommend 3-6 months prior to the trip, or as soon as I’ve finalized our group and arrival details.

I will be in contact with you regularly with reminders and assistance on purchasing fights, visas, insurance, packing, and more.

In the meantime, feel free to set up a flight alert on Google Flights to start monitoring prices. You will be flying in and out of Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).

  • Absolutely not! Most people come on group trips alone, and it’s the best way to meet people!

  • My trips tend to have people mostly in the 30-50 age range, but all ages 18+ are welcome. We usually have some people who are 50+ on our trips, so if that's you, don't worry!

Age is honestly just a number, and it’s more important that the trip sounds like a good fit for you than your actual age. I promise you'll make friends of all ages!

  • "Safe" is such a relative term when it comes to travel, as things can happen anywhere at anytime, and safety is never something that can be guaranteed.

Group travel is inherently safer than solo travel because you are with a group, a local guide, and a tour leader, and you never have to be alone. You've always got people to watch your back, and that's a beautiful thing.

That being said, India isn't inherently dangerous to travel to. Yes, it can be loud, dirty, and chaotic at times, but it's also incredibly beautiful and unique. If India is on your bucket list, especially to celebrate Holi, group travel is 100% the way to do it safely!

We provide safety tips in our orientation to ensure that we're doing everything we can to equip you with the tools needed to be a savvy traveler in India.

  • There are no required vaccinations for India, but you may want to talk to your physician about getting optional vaccinations such as Hepatitis A & B, and preventative antibiotics for food poisoning, just in case.

We also go over medications in our orientation and give suggestions on things you can bring to prevent getting sick. You should not drink tap water in India, and we generally recommend not eating street food.

Vibe Check

A group of travelers sitting on a sand dune in the desert at sunset. The group of about 9 people are dressed casually and appear to be enjoying the golden hour view across rolling sand dunes.

I have been running group trips for 3 years now, and I’ve taken over 150 travelers to 7 countries all over the world. In that time, I have learned that while group trips are an amazing, life-changing adventure for most, they aren’t for everyone.

Here’s some general guidelines to help you determine if group trips are a good fit for you:

  • Like any travel experience, group trips require flexibility, self-awareness, and an open mind. Things don’t always go as planned during travel (sometimes that’s part of the adventure!), and if you can keep a positive attitude, have perspective, and stay open-minded, it will make for a much more enjoyable experience for everyone.

  • Group trips are highly scheduled and organized (that’s the appeal, right?!). While you aren’t required to participate in activities that don’t interest you, it does require you to be on time and respectful of others.

  • Traveling in a group means sometimes we need to do what’s best for the group vs. the individual, and that things need to be organized in a way that the group can travel efficiently to make the trip go smoothly. It also sometimes means sharing meals, accommodations, and transportation with your trip mates—this brings a feeling of community and allows you to bond with your fellow adventurer buddies. It’s like adult summer camp!

  • Group trips involve lots of personalities—again, that’s part of the appeal! While I do my best to ensure everyone on the trip is a good fit, you might not become best friends with every person in your group, and that’s okay! I guarantee you’ll make some lifelong friends, and I ensure you can learn something valuable from everyone you meet.

  • These trips are usually international, which gives you the privilege of learning about other cultures. Often that means things might be different from the comforts you are used to at home—that’s the whole point of travel! Being open-minded, flexible, and willing to experience life in a different way will make for a transformative travel experience.

Still have questions?

Want to scope out flight prices?

You will be flying in and out of Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).

Laura Ericson Group Trips is not responsible for any costs related to flights. You can use this tool to gauge flight prices, but please wait until you get an email from us approximately 6 months prior to your trip to book your flights to ensure you have all of the information needed for booking. We recommend always booking with the airline directly and not from an online travel agency (OTA) like Kayak, etc.
